Dove, a personal care brand owned by Unilever, just released a so-called “inclusive” Mother’s Day advertisement that includes a male to female “transgender” individual as an example of real motherhood.

A mother is, by definition, a woman in relation to her child or children. By attempting to include biological men under this definition, Dove has devalued the importance of women in motherhood.
In the Dove commercial, Shea, a male-to-female “transgender” individual who is in a partnership with a woman, comments: “There’s no one right way to do it all.” Shea explains, “We are both his biological parents. You get people that are like, ‘What do you mean? You’re the mom?’ We’re like, ‘Yep. We’re both gonna be moms.’”
Unfortunately, this advertisement reflects a larger cultural shift away from real motherhood. See the commercial here.
The British Medical Association recently urged medical personnel to refer to pregnant women as “pregnant people” instead of “expectant mothers” because the term “expectant mothers” may be offensive to transgender “men.”

Mother’s Day is a time to celebrate women as mothers, not a time for political statements that many of their customers do not agree with.
